The developing countries like India and China are the emerging economies. They are facing a flow of huge quantity of e-waste in their countries via domestic generation as well as illegal imports.
India generated E Waste about 2.2 million Tons each year by the 2018. A report by CAG found that 4 lakh tons of electronic waste is generated in our country every year. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) estimates that around 0.5 MT of E Waste is generated every day.
Is “e-waste” term clearly defined?
The term “e-waste” is loosely applied to consumer and business electronic equipment that is near or at the end of its useful life. There is no clear definition for e-waste; for instance whether or not items like microwave ovens and other similar “appliances” should be grouped into the category has not been established.
